Congratulations to Zsofia Schweger who has won Griffin Art Prize 2015! The winner was announced at the opening reception for the shortlist exhibition on Wednesday 18 November. The winners artwork and work by the nine other artists in the shortlist will be on show at Griffin Gallery until 18 December.
Designed to have a meaningful impact on the career of one emerging artist, the Griffin Art Prize is an annual residency and exhibition award for UK based artists in painting and drawing. It provides the time, space, materials and support to develop work for a one-person exhibition. The Griffin Art Prize winner will have unique access to a large studio in London for six months. Materials of choice are provided by the world’s leading fine art brands, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris. The six month residency culminates in a solo exhibition at Griffin Gallery in summer 2016.
The prize was judged this year by Emma Crichton-Miller, a freelance arts journalist and writer; Jenni Lomax, director of Camden Arts Centre, London; Stuart Semple, a British Artist who has held 15 major international solo exhibitions in the UK, USA, China and Italy; and Jenny Lindén Urnes, the owner and Chairman of Lindéngruppen. The exhibition of shortlisted artwork has been curated by Becca Pelly-Fry, director of Griffin Gallery.
